Adaptive Computing (formerly Cluster Resources) has announced two significant upgrades that address the requirements of banking, financial services, and other enterprise customers deploying large internal cloud infrastructures to manage thousands of applications.

The new Moab release 5.4 and Moab Viewpoint™ 1.0 (a new self-service portal component for use with Moab Adaptive Computing Suite) empower these organizations to move beyond consolidated hardware and software infrastructures to the real promise of private clouds—the automated and intelligent delivery of infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS) based on application workloads. Read the entire press release with more details at http://support.adaptivecomputing.com/news/2010moabviewpoint.php.

How to get Moab 5.4: Moab product upgrades and new components are always free to Moab licensees. To download Moab 5.4 as an upgrade to your current Moab installation or for evaluation purposes, visit http://support.adaptivecomputing.com/resources/downloads.php.

Moab in the News: Recent Mentions of Moab in Industry Publications

HPCwire carried this great customer story just a few days ago. It’s well worth a couple minutes to read through:

“South Africa’s HPC Center Tames Its ‘Zoo of Architectures,'” by Michael Feldman, April 13, 2010.

“. . . The diversity of HPC systems at CHPC also presents a big challenge. With hundreds of users tapping into the systems, how does the center manage the computer systems so as to maximize overall utilization? That’s where Adaptive Computing’s Moab technology comes in. Starting in 2010, CHPC deployed Moab, in the form of the company’s Adaptive HPC Suite, to help bring the center’s supercomputers under a unified management scheme. Rather than having to manually provision and perform job scheduling one machine at a time, Moab sits atop the workload manager on each system and orchestrates them to function as a single entity. . . .”

Webinar: “Building a Private Cloud with Moab and Moab Viewpoint”

Tues., May 4, 2:00-3:00 p.m. (ET)

You’ve seen more than enough hype about so-called “cloud” computing. Your organization may have already decided it’s not ready to deal with the security risks, potential loss of control, and cost of using a public cloud computing provider. But you may also be aware of the potential benefits of a private cloud setup, including security, control, flexibility, and economy.

If you’re ready to learn about practical, workable steps to build a private cloud within your own organization, this webinar will help with the information you need. You’ll learn how Moab provides the needed automation intelligence and control to ensure a successful private cloud, and you’ll be able to identify the other essential system components that go into making a private cloud work for your organization.

With Moab Adaptive Computing Suite and Moab Viewpoint, your organization can build a private cloud with an easy-to-use self-service portal that simplifies the creation and management of needed cloud resources on demand. Don’t miss this informative webinar that will show you how your organization can meet its growing, fluctuating workload and application demands without resorting to the use of unproven, potentially risky external or public resources.
